I am so excited to share Steven and Kristen‘s engagement at the Monahans Sandhills State Park!! Monahans Sandhills is one of my absolute favorite locations for an engagement session. I love the adventure feel and the colors the sky gives us. It is such a versatile place to photograph to get those showstopping images! I photographed their session on a cool summer morning, thankfully! We actually had to reschedule their original session time because of an extreme heat warning for that afternoon… However, their session was relaxed and fun, and we had the best time together.

After battling the sandhills for the morning we moved the party to the Wildlife Preserve on I-20 in Midland, Texas. Kristen and Steven wanted to have the variety of having some greenery in their images, and we did just that! They even popped some champagne at the end of their session to celebrate their engagement. I am ALWAYS here for a champagne pop!! I am so excited to share a sneak peek into their amazing session!

HOW THEY MET

Steven and Kristen met how every couple nowadays meets, through Hinge. It was definitely love at first sight! When Steven took her to Saltgrass and showed up with hot pink roses, it sealed the deal for Kristen. How sweet!! Their love was so immediate that Steven went to look for the perfect ring just a few months into dating each other. At 6 months into their relationship, they became engaged and wait until you hear the proposal story!

HOW HE PROPOSED

Steven’s original plan to propose with all of Kristen’s family was interrupted by the weather, so he had to come up with a new way to propose. Steven had a sweet habit of leaving notes to Kristen on their fridge or throughout their home. Steven left notes that said Will you… and waited until they took a trip to Lubbock to finish the deal. They walked the mall to the Build-a-Bear station and started building their bear together when he snuck away to record Marry Me, so she would hear it when she pressed the hand. How stinkin’ cute!! They asked a stranger to take their picture and it’s now one of their favorite photos!
